Production support for every stage of the job
Use us for one step or the whole workflow. Either way the output is built to your standards and goes out under your name.
Market study
A market study tells you what a project really involves before you commit crews and budget to it. We work through the route using records, imagery and utility data and give you a clear picture of the poles, the owners and the likely make ready.
You get numbers you can bid with and plan around, not a guess.
What is included
- Route review and pole count
- Pole owner and existing attacher identification
- Estimated mix of straight attach, comm make ready, power make ready, PCO and underground
- Flags for crossings, congested poles and likely problem areas
Classification and calibration
Annotation is only as good as the data under it. Before any heights get measured, we go through the field collection, classify and tag the photos, read the pole birthmarks, record the ground circumference and set the calibration so every measurement that follows can be trusted.
We work in Katapult Pro or IKE Office, inside your accounts or from your exports, using your templates and attribute setup.
What is included
- Photo classification: every photo reviewed, sorted by pole and view, and tagged with the company each attachment belongs to
- Pole birthmarks read from the photos: owner, class, height, species and year
- Ground circumference taken from the field data
- Height calibration and reference checks
- Pole and span data cleanup
- Bad and missed photos noted pole by pole, so the fielder can go back and refield them before make ready engineering starts
Annotation
With calibrated data in place we annotate every pole: existing attachments, wire heights, equipment and midspan clearances. Everything is measured, labeled and checked against your conventions.
Clean annotation is what lets your engineer review a job fast instead of rebuilding it.
What is included
- Existing attachments and attacher identification
- Wire and equipment heights
- Midspan measurements and clearances
- Proposed attachment height for the new fiber
Make ready engineering
This is where the decisions get made. For every pole we work out what has to happen before the new fiber can go up, and we write the reasoning down so your engineer can check it in seconds.
When aerial is not possible or not worth it, we call it underground and say why.
Our team knows the NESC standards thoroughly and applies them on every call. More than 10,000 poles we designed have already been permitted, and our designs hold up in utility review.
What is included
- Straight attach where the fiber fits as is
- Comm make ready: moving or rearranging existing communication attachments
- Power make ready where the electric utility has to do work
- PCO where the pole has to be changed out
- Underground where aerial does not work
- Every call checked against NESC clearances and the pole owner’s specs
O-Calc pole loading analysis
We build pole loading models in O-Calc Pro from your field data and run them to the load cases and construction grade you give us. Poles that fail get flagged with the cause and the options to fix them.
Your engineer of record reviews and signs off. We do the modeling work behind that review so it goes faster.
What is included
- Pole class, height, species and setting depth from field data
- Existing and proposed attachments, guys and spans modeled to measured values
- Loading analysis to the district and construction grade you specify
- Failure notes with likely fixes such as guying, rearrangement or replacement
Deliverables
Every client and every utility wants the finished product in a slightly different shape. We assemble it to match, under your name, so it goes out clean the first time and comes back with fewer questions.
That includes utility permitting packages. You keep control of the submission itself. We hand you a package that is ready to send.
What is included
- Permit application packages in each utility’s format
- Make ready summaries and loading results compiled per job
- Maps, sketches and supporting exhibits
- Revisions when the utility or your client comes back with comments
QC review
Everything we make goes through QC before it reaches you: calibration, annotation, calls, loading and the final package. Not a sample, not a spot check.
The designer checks their own work first. Then a second reviewer goes through it against your checklist. Errors get logged so we can see patterns and fix them at the source.
What is included
- Designer self check against your standards
- Independent review by a senior designer
- Error log per batch, shared with you on request
- Feedback loop so repeat issues get fixed in training, not just in the file
Have a backlog of poles waiting on design?
Tell us about the project, the software and the utility. We will come back with a plan, a timeline and a price.
